ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking Volunteer Porters for our long-term care home! Our Volunteer Porters work closely with our Recreation Team. They escort residents to and from program locations to enhance their quality of life and overall well-being by facilitating the attendance to programs. Although we are a Jewish home, we welcome residents and staff from all backgrounds and with all lived experiences.
We welcome high school and university students who require volunteer hours for course work or admittance to post-secondary education. (Students must be at least 14 years of age.)
We encourage a minimum commitment of 6 months and/or 60 hours of volunteer work to foster meaningful relationships and building a sense of community which comes from such a commitment (exceptions are students in the co-op, placement and community service programs).

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sign-in/out from the volunteer book upon arrival/departure at the front reception desk.
- Assist recreation staff by encouraging residents to attend the program by knocking on resident doors to remind them of the programs.
- If resident would like to attend the activity, escort them to the activity.
- At the end of the program, bring residents back to their neighbourhood.
