Hillel Lodge LTC Foundation 10 Nadolny Sachs Private, Ottawa ON

Summer Videographer
Hillel Lodge LTC Foundation | Ottawa, Ontario | Summer 2026
Canada Summer Jobs Position  |8 Weeks  |  37.5 hrs/week  |  $17.60/hour  |  Reports to: Executive Director & Development Coordinator

The Opportunity
Some projects come along once. This is one of them. The Hillel Lodge LTC Foundation is looking for a resourceful, emotionally intelligent Videographer to lead a project that will outlast the summer: capturing the voices, values, and stories of donors who have chosen to leave a legacy gift to Hillel Lodge. These are people who believe so deeply in compassionate care for Ottawa’s seniors that they have written it into their wills. Their stories deserve to be told with craft and heart — and you will be the person who tells them.
We want to be honest with you from the start: we are a small not-for-profit, and our production toolkit reflects that. You will be working primarily with an iPhone and an Apple computer. What we are looking for is someone who sees that as a creative challenge rather than a limitation — a storyteller who knows that what makes a great video is almost never the equipment.
If you are the kind of person who has produced something genuinely moving on a phone, who can make a living room feel cinematic with natural light and a thoughtful frame, and who finds more inspiration in a person’s face than in a lens catalogue — we want to hear from you.

About Hillel Lodge LTC Foundation
Founded in 2002, the Hillel Lodge LTC Foundation raises and stewards the financial resources that allow the Bess and Moe Greenberg Family Hillel Lodge to provide compassionate, high-quality care beyond what government funding alone can support. Our donors, volunteers, and community partners share a common belief: Ottawa’s seniors and residents with disabilities deserve the very best.
Each summer, we host the Biking for Bubbies & Zaidies — now in its 18th year — a beloved community event that brings together cyclists, sponsors, and supporters to celebrate our residents and raise funds for their care. You will be the person who captures that day on video and helps us tell that story to the world.
What You’ll Do

Lead a Once-in-a-Generation Legacy Project
The centrepiece of this role is a special donor recognition series that will become a permanent part of the Foundation’s history. You will:
• Conduct warm, empathetic oral history interviews with legacy donors, capturing their stories on video
• Develop storyboards and creative concepts in close collaboration with the Executive Director
• Handle all aspects of production: planning, shooting, and editing using iPhone and Apple-based tools
• Apply your eye for composition, natural lighting, and sound to bring out the best in every setting — without relying on specialized gear
• Produce a polished, emotionally resonant final series that honours the dignity and generosity of each donor
• Ensure informed consent, confidentiality, and ethical best practices throughout — especially when working with seniors

Produce Content Across Platforms
Beyond the legacy project, you will create video content that brings the Foundation’s mission to life:
• Shoot and edit content for the Biking for Bubbies & Zaidies event, social media, and marketing campaigns
• Work within the Foundation’s brand voice and storytelling goals across every deliverable
• Export content in the formats and resolutions required for each platform
• Maintain an organized archive of all footage and media files on our Apple system
• Troubleshoot equipment and software issues with creativity and resourcefulness — finding solutions with what’s available

Collaborate and Contribute
You will be a full member of the team, with real creative ownership:
• Work closely with the Executive Director and Development Coordinator on priorities and creative direction
• Participate in team meetings and bring your perspective to the table
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines independently, keeping quality consistent throughout

What You Bring
We are looking for someone with a genuine eye, a warm presence, and the resourcefulness to make something beautiful with what’s in front of them.
You bring:
• A portfolio or examples of video work — phone-shot projects are not just acceptable, they are exactly what we want to see
• Proficiency with iPhone videography and Apple-based editing tools (iMovie, Final Cut Pro, or similar)
• A solid instinct for composition, natural lighting, and sound — independent of expensive equipment
• The patience, warmth, and emotional intelligence to interview and film seniors with dignity and care
• Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple projects and deadlines on your own
• A creative, positive, self-starting personality — someone who finds solutions rather than obstacles
• Clear, respectful communication skills for working with donors, staff, volunteers, and community members
• Willingness to work occasional flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, as project needs require
• Familiarity with the Ottawa Jewish community and its culture is a genuine asset
• Bilingualism in English/French or English/Hebrew is a bonus, never a barrier

When you apply, please include a link to a video you’re proud of — phone-shot, edited on a laptop, produced on a shoestring.

Why This Summer
The legacy donor project alone makes this role exceptional. Documentary oral history work with real subjects, real stories, and real stakes is the kind of experience most emerging filmmakers spend years trying to access. You will walk away with a portfolio piece that matters, a professional reference, and a deeper understanding of community, care, and what it means to tell someone’s story well.
This position supports federal priorities around seniors, people with disabilities, health care, and not-for-profit organizations — and gives you direct, meaningful experience in all of them.
