Volunteering with Ottawa Jewish Archives

Blog Volunteer

Do you love to write and tell stories? How about performing research? Help bring Ottawa Jewish history to life by volunteering at the archives and telling some of our communities amazing stories.

The Ottawa Jewish Archives is looking for a volunteer to help write monthly blog posts. L’Dor V’Dor, meaning from generation to generation, is the blog of the Ottawa Jewish Archives and helps to tell stories of community life in Jewish Ottawa. L’Dor V’Dor articles are written by staff and volunteers at the Ottawa Jewish Archives, utilizing archival materials to tell those stories.

Photo Digitization Volunteer

The Ottawa Jewish Archives has a huge backlog of photographs that need to be digitized! We’re looking for someone to help us with numbering (accessioning) and scanning these photos so they can be enjoyed for generations to come.

Jewish Veterans research

Ottawa’s Jewish community had one of the highest enlistment rates in all of Canada during the Second World War. The Ottawa Jewish Archives has a list of more than 600 Jewish veterans who have served. We are looking for a volunteer who enjoys researching military history to help compile details about our community’s veterans including, which war they fought, their rank, and their military story.

Interested individuals can send an email to our Archivist Teigan Goldsmith at archives@jewishottawa.com or call 613-798-4696 ext. 260.
