This special division of the Federation is aimed at young adults under 40; we develop exciting and innovative programs that allow young people to meet and mingle and develop their professional contacts. There are social events, workshops to hone skills and to network, grant programs, and much more!
Jared and Michelle (at left)
What drew Jared to Ottawa originally in 2016 was his undergraduate degree at the University of Ottawa. However, the beauty of the city and the vibrant Jewish community within it led him to stay well beyond his studies. Fast forward five years, he met Michelle, a then newcomer to the city. Like Jared, she fell in love with the city and today they are thrilled to call Ottawa their permanent home. Jared is a commercial real estate broker at a local boutique brokerage, while Michelle is an economist in the federal government. Jared chaired the 2022-23 Emerging Generations campaign, and has canvassed for the Jewish Federation of Ottawa in the years prior. This year, he is excited to be joined by Michelle, who volunteered for the preceding campaign. Together, they eagerly anticipate the 2023-24 campaign, aiming to connect with more community members and build bridges for the next generation.
Jonathon and Elyssa Greenberg
Jonathon and Elyssa previously held the position of Emerging Gen Co-Chairs and agreed to take on the revamped Young Adult Division roles as their involvement in the community grew, as did their family. They are now proud parents! Originally from Montreal they moved to Ottawa in 2015 and 2017 respectively. Together, they have built a life in the Nation’s Capital that now includes their 13-month-old daughter, Chloe Hannah. With Jonathon’s advocacy skills gleaned through his work as a member of the World Jewish Congress’ Jewish Diplomatic Corps and with Elyssa’s focus on helping the underserved in the Jewish community, they are the perfect pair to help build and sustain a thriving Jewish community in which they can raise their family for generations to come. Jonathon and Elyssa are prolific bridge-builders and believe that community is one of the central tenets to building a successful life.
