"We Walk to Remember (WW2R) is an annual program undertaken by the Jewish fraternity Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi). The program is intended to bring attention to the millions of Jewish souls that perished during the Holocaust. Fraternity brothers dress in black, and walk silently around campus and distribute handouts commemorating the Holocaust. In 2016, a record breaking 163 chapters participated in WW2R. Our plan this year is to walk from the ByWard Market to Jean Pigott Place in City Hall where we will meet up with B’nai B’rith’s “Unto Every Person There is a Name” program.
We want to make this a community wide event and as such we are looking for as many people as possible from the Ottawa and surrounding Jewish (and non-Jewish) community to participate. The details are below;
Date: March 5th 2017
Time: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Meet by 9:45 AM to receive handouts)
Starting Location of the Walk: Outside Ottawa Tuckers’s Marketplace (61 York St, Ottawa, ON K1N 5T2).
Ending Location: Jean Pigott Place in City Hall for a commemorative ceremony
