Wampum is how the Haudenosaunee documented their history and culture. They are the interface between native
and colonist. In his presentation, Darren will provide a historical narrative through the significance of wampum belts which were a symbol of the most solemn of commitments.
Darren Bonaparte is a Mohawk story teller, writer and artist from Akwesasne. He is the author of two books as well as numerous historical articles and papers, and recently wrote the libretto for a multimedia musical theater work with music by Odawa composer Barbara Croal.
