The Law of Survival is the story of Polina Gelman, the only Jewish woman awarded the Gold Star Hero of the Soviet Union. According to Red Army regulations, a bomber could receive the Gold Star only after making one hundred successful flights. From 1942-1945, Polina Gelman’s flight log recorded 869 combat flights and 1300 hours in the air. This 40-minutes documentary is a tribute to this incredible woman, but also deals with the much broader issue of Jewish participation in WWII.
