The play is a bittersweet comedy about three Jewish widows, Doris, Lucille, and Ida. They have been close friends for many years, despite their different outlooks on life. They meet once a month for tea before going to visit their husbands’ graves. One day they bump into their butcher, Sam, who is visiting his deceased wife's grave at the same cemetery.  Ida and Sam fall for each other, but the budding romance comes under fire from some unexpected sources.
