Temple Israel's Truth and Reconciliation Task Force is honoured to present a presentation by Darren Bonaparte, a Mohawk story teller, writer and artist from Akwesasne. He is the author of two books as well as numerous historical
articles and papers, and recently wrote the libretto for a multimedia musical theater work with music by Odawa
composer Barbara Croal.
In his presentation, Darren will provide a historical narrative through the significance of wampum belts which were a symbol of the most solemn of commitments. Wampum is how the Haudenosaunee documented their history and culture and is the interface between native and colonist.
