March of the Living Program is an experiential education journey for high school students, (Gr. 10 - 12) from Poland to Israel, which brings individuals from across the globe to study the events of the Holocaust in order to stand up and march against prejudice, intolerance and hate.
It marks two important dates in Jewish History: Yom Hashoah and Yom Ha'atzmaut. On Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) students participate in a three kilometer March from Auschwitz/Birkenau as a silent tribute to victims of the Shoah. Students then observe Yom Hazikaron (Israel’s Memorial Day) and celebrate Yom Ha'atzmaut (Israel’s Independence Day) while in Israel.
