In this 5 week online course, open to all, you’ll learn about the origins and history of Jewish mystical traditions, from the Judaism of Late Antiquity to modern Hasidism and contemporary Jewish mysticism. The course will introduce you to:

Early Jewish mysticism — Hekhalot and Merkavah literature: Shi‘ur Ḳomah, Sefer Ha-Bahir
The Zohar and Sefirot
The Hasidei Ashkenaz/The Hasidim of Ashkenaz
Lurianic Kabbalah
The relationship between Jewish Kabbalah and the origins of Hermetic Qabalah
Hasidic philosophy and mysticism
Contemporary Jewish mysticism

Sessions:

Dates: August 21, 28, September 11, 18, 25
Time: 7:30-8:30 pm
Location: Online, at a webinar link that will be sent to all registered students
Equipment needed: A desktop or laptop computer and wireless or wired internet access.

N.B.: There will be no online class on September 4, for Labour Day weekend.
