The Sefer Torah in the Greenberg Families Library is often the subject of curiosity and questions about where it came from, why it’s damaged, and how it ended up here. Please join us for a three part series from the Memorial Scrolls Trust, where we will answer these and many more questions about the remarkable Torahs that were saved from the ashes of the Holocaust.

Event One:
A series of miracles allowed a huge hoard of Czech Torah scrolls to survive the devastation of the Shoah and stand as a testament to the communities that perished. The Memorial Scrolls Trust is committed to maintaining the legacy of these scrolls by dispersing 1400 of them around the world on permanent loan from our collection. To those who were entrusted with the scrolls, they are a symbol of hope as well as sorrow. In this presentation, Lois Roman will describe the history of the scrolls, including our own Sefer Torah 1336, how they were rescued, and how they serve as memorial to the vanished communities which once treasured them.
