Gefen Bar-On Santor, well known for her literature courses at the SJCC, will review both “Indian Horse” by Richard Wagamese and “The Story of a Life” by Aharon Applelfied on the theme of a childhood interrupted. In Wagamese’s book the hero, a young Northern Ojibway boy, survives residential school with the help of hockey. Applefield’s memoir relates how his childhood ended at the age of seven when the Nazis occupied his home town in 1941.
In person at Temple Israel at 9:30 a.m. for a bagel breakfast followed at 10 a.m. by the presentation and discussion
