As part of the JPL Authors from Home series, and in collaboration with Greenberg Families Library- JCC Ottawa join us on Zoom for a conversation with photographer Edward Hillel who will present his latest work Main.
In 1987, The Main: Portrait of a Neighborhood celebrated tolerance and the immigrant communities along Montreal’s Boulevard Saint-Laurent. This 2025 reimagining, by Edward Hillel, revisits the neighborhood to explore belonging, identity, memory, and the evolving photobook in a globalized world.
Combining past and present photographs, archival material, and reflective texts, Hillel invites readers into his creative process while asking: in a world of constant movement, what becomes of places and memories? Can we ever truly go home again?
The special event in our Authors from Home series has been made possible by the Government of Canada, the Azrieli Foundation, the generous support of Margo & Harvey Elman, and Oren Gabbay.
