Congregation Machzikei Hadas Presents:
A Community Gourmet Shabbat Dinner

The Black-Jewish Story
What has happened in the past, what is going on now, and where do we go from here?
As we reflect on the recent anti-Semitic hate crimes in the New York area, those that are occurring in Canada, as well as ongoing anti-Black racism, we bring together a range of voices to wrestle with the reality of anti-Semitism and racism of all types, in order to discern how our communities can move forward.

Rabbi Shais Rishon - "Manishtana"
Rabbi Rishon is a writer and speaker, whose work takes prejudice, bias, and ignorance head on, asking the questions about humanity, race, religion, and social injustice that we all have (and maybe are afraid to talk about), with gut-punching insight and gut-busting sarcasm. He made it to the Forward 50 for the 2nd year in a row.

Reverend Dr. Anthony Bailey
Reverend Bailey is the Coordinating Minister at Parkdale United Church in Ottawa. He is a powerful voice on subjects including: intercultural competence, social justice, anti racism, Black History, and racial justice and reconciliation.

Rabbi Idan Scher
Rabbi Scher is the Rabbi of Congregation Machzikei Hadas. During his five years in Ottawa, he has been recognized as a leader who brings diverse people and communities together with honesty and deep respect for all.
