Antisemitism: Face It, Fight It

8:00AM - 5:00PM

What: Antisemitism: Face It, Fight It | www.fightit.ca

Where: Shaw Centre, Ottawa

When: October 16 and 17, 2023

Who: Jewish community from coast to coast to coast

Why:

We’ve long known that what starts with the Jews doesn’t end with the Jews. Antisemitism isn’t just a real and present threat today, it’s a problem growing at a frightening rate.

Jews are just 1% of the Canadian population. But, as the religious group most targeted by hate crimes, we’re ten times more likely than any other religious minority to report being the target of a hate crime.

That’s why we have a big choice to make about antisemitism – ignore its impact and walk away or come together to push back against it.

Antisemitism: Face It, Fight It will transform you from a passive victim to an engaged activist focused on the single-most important challenge we face today: antisemitism. Join the Jewish community from across Canada and allies of the Jewish community as we unite our voices in Ottawa and empower ourselves to show up, speak up, and step up against Jew-hatred.

To face this hate, we need to understand what antisemitism looks like, how it manifests, what it means, and how it’s undermining and marginalizing Jews. To fight it, we need to engage the political sector and empower all of us to take our concerns directly to the decision-makers of today and demand they stand with us against antisemitism.

We’re going to confront this new challenge together, and use this gathering to express solidarity and demonstrate unity. You’ll leave knowing that you are part of something important and have new skills as we embark on our biggest response ever to antisemitism. When it comes to antisemitism, it’s time to show that we have seen enough, heard enough, and had enough. We need to face it, and we need to fight it.

Join us...not just to make a difference, but to be the difference.
