An exciting opportunity for a creative and charismatic individual who is passionate about Jewish life and understands the needs and desires of young Jewish adults and families looking for connection with each other and with the Jewish community.
The ideal candidate loves meeting new people, working with others, and has the passion to engage young adults in Jewish Ottawa. A friendly, warm disposition, with a natural understanding of customer service and a passion for Jewish life, are a must.
Reporting to the Vice President of Community Building, the Community Engagement Specialist cultivates relationships with singles, couples, and young families in their 20s to 40s through one-on-one interactions, programming and fundraising.

Key Job Components

• Outreach & Engagement – Develop personal relationships through one-on-one interactions and other shared experiences to connect the Emerging Gen to Jewish community. This includes managing the PJ Library program with over 700 subscribers.
• Fundraising - Actively fundraise for the Annual Campaign, and lead the Emerging Gen division of Federation’s Annual Campaign through relationship building, personal solicitation and coordinating volunteers.
• Event Coordination – Create and manage committees of volunteers, and lead the planning and execution of events that create meaningful points of contact and foster active, year-round opportunities for young adults and PJ Library families.

• Strong communication skills contribute to creative marketing, branding and promotion strategies for all initiatives.
• Skilled at using social media and other platforms to connect to new people and to promote events and engage community members.

Networking Skills
• Ability to cultivate and retain a cadre of volunteers from the Emerging Gen to assist with planning, promoting and executing initiatives for their peers.
• Connector that introduces people to each other and fosters connections between people.
• Actively engaged in finding those unaffiliated, and building relationships with and working with community partners in order to be responsive to the needs of the Emerging Generation.

Requirements
• Strong leadership skills and ability to get results through others.
• Ability to work within a team. Experience in working with volunteers of different backgrounds, ages and outlooks.
• Energized by a fast-paced schedule that includes various projects at once. Highly organized with strong planning, organizing and logistical skills.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Knowledge of Israel, Jewish values and tradition.
• Knowledge of Ottawa’s Jewish community is an asset.

Hours: Full-Time, must be available to work and attend occasional meetings and events on evenings and weekends as required.
