Position Overview
The Jewish Federation of Ottawa is seeking a detail-oriented, motivated Development Assistant for a three-month part-time contract. This entry-level role provides vital administrative, stewardship, and research support to the Development team.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable engaging with donors and community members, and eager to learn the fundamentals of fundraising and community development. This role is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a mission-driven, community-focused organization.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Relations & Stewardship
- Assist with donor outreach, including canvassing preparation and follow-up.
- Conduct stewardship calls to thank donors and provide updates on impact.
- Support the development of donor communications and materials as needed.
Research & Administration
- Conduct research on sponsorship opportunities and prospective partners.
- Maintain accurate donor and prospect information in internal databases.
- Prepare reports, summaries, and briefing notes for the VP, Development.
- Support the coordination and execution of development-related tasks and projects.
Team & Department Support
- Provide administrative support to the VP, Development, and broader team.
- Assist with scheduling, filing, data entry, and other operational tasks.
- Support Development events and activities when required.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- University degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience in customer service, client relations, or community-facing roles.
- Prior experience in a nonprofit or Jewish community environment is an asset.

- Knowledge of Ottawa’s Jewish community is an asset.
Additional Information
- This is a fixed-term contract position for 3 months, with the possibility of extension depending on organizational needs.
