The Community Relationship Coordinator is a key member of the Jewish Federation of Ottawa’s Community Building team, with a primary focus on grants and microgrants as well as building relationships with partner organizations. The specialist will manage the microgrant and community impact grants processes — serving as a primary funder for new engagement programs, while also overseeing Holocaust education initiatives and other community projects. This role is essential in supporting the Federation's mission to engage more individuals in Jewish community life in Ottawa through resourcing innovative programming and funding initiatives.
Essential Qualifications
- Grants and Funding Expertise: Demonstrated experience in managing grant processes, evaluating proposals, and tracking the impact of funded initiatives. Strong skills in Microsoft Excel for data tracking and reporting.
- Relationship Building & Networking: Exceptional ability to forge strong interpersonal alliances with community partners and stakeholders. Outgoing and personable, with a knack for building trust and fostering collaborative relationships.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for nurturing relationships and promoting engagement initiatives.
- Organizational Skills: Extremely organized and detail-oriented, capable of self-managing and multitasking in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Project Management Experience: Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a strong ability to prioritize tasks.
Preferred Skills
- Significant Knowledge of Jewish Culture and Community: A deep understanding of Jewish traditions, values, and cultures.
- Familiarity with Ottawa’s Jewish Community: Knowledge of local organizations, leaders, and community dynamics is a plus.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Grants and Microgrants Management
- Build and maintain relationships with partner organizations, acting as a primary funder for new engagement programs that align with the Federation’s mission.
- Oversee the annual Community Impact Grants and microgrant portfolios, including designing grant criteria, drafting requests for proposals, and facilitating the review process, coordinating the evaluation, awarding and reporting of all grants.
- Manage the Grants and Microgrants committees, organizing meetings and maintaining communication with the Chair.
- Track and evaluate the impact of microgrants and community initiatives, ensuring accountability and alignment with strategic goals.
Holocaust Engagement
- Manage the Shoah & March of the Living Committee, organizing regular meetings and maintaining effective communication with the Chair.
- Plan, organize, and execute events for Holocaust Education Month (November), Yom HaShoah (April/May), and collaborate on International Holocaust Remembrance Day (January 27).
- Coordinate MOL trip every other year.
- Serve as the community’s point of contact for Holocaust-related matters, fostering partnerships with local organizations, including CIJA, CHES, and government representatives.
Community Initiatives & Events
- Work collaboratively with the Federation team to develop and implement engaging activities that enhance Jewish communal life and strengthen the Ottawa Jewish community.
- Promote the Federation’s role as a community convener by initiating programs that encourage participation and collaboration.
- Facilitate the establishment of micro-communities and support the development of new engagement initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities
As the Federation evolves, this position may expand to include additional responsibilities related to community engagement and program development.
Salary & Benefits
- 35 hours a week $62,000-$68,000 (Full-time, with availability to work evenings and weekends as required)
